Travel Resources

We get asked constantly what travel resources we actually use to book flights, find gear, and keep this whole trip funded. So here it is, everything in one place. We hope these resources can be as helpful for you as they have been for us. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us @CheckedOutToCheckIn and we’ll be happy to answer them!

Credit Cards & Points

Chase Sapphire Preferred card, one of our top travel resources for points
One of our favorite travel credit cards!

Credit card points have been one of the best travel resources we’ve used to save money and travel in business class for free! Below is our guides on which cards to get first, how we split cards as a couple, and the cards that we currently have in our wallet, with more guides coming soon:

Money & Banking

Getting cash and paying for things abroad has its own set of rules that took us some trial and error to sort out. Here’s exactly how we handle ATMs, cards, and currency conversion so you don’t lose money to bad exchange rates or dodgy fees.

Gear We Travel With

Everything from what’s in our packs and the tech we couldn’t do this trip without to the outfits we’re wearing on the beach. This has been the gear that is in our bag and what we’ve been using across our full time travel.

Booking Your Trip

Below are some of our favorite tools for booking trips, as well as some of our favorite tours from places that we’ve visited. These travel resources are helpful search tools when we’re doing research into booking our next trip.

  • Activities & Tours – Includes our favorite activities and tours. The tool we use to book excursions, safaris, and day trips is GetYourGuide
  • Hotels – This has been one of our favorite tools for searching for accommodations since it let’s you search across all hotel brands and types.
  • Flights – Google flights is such a useful tool for searching all of the different airlines at once, as well as exploring which destinations within a country are the cheapest to fly to, given whatever constraints you have

Our travel insurance provider that we love!

You absolutely should have travel insurance when you’re travelling full time, but even if you’re not it is still a helpful tool to have! Here’s the company that we use and in the review we talk about what situations make sense for others to use it.

Beyond gear and cards, our destination guides are also useful travel resources full of costs, logistics, and what we wish we’d known before we went. The below list is some of our favorites but if you click our destinations tab you can see more:
